An Architectural Icon by Zaha Hadid
WICONA presents the first residential building in New York designed by Zaha Hadid Architects: 520 West 28th. Breaking away from Manhattan’s typical grid of rectangular buildings, this architectural gem features a curved steel façade inspired by natural forms. The flowing volumes bring a sense of movement and uniqueness to the 11-story structure, housing 39 luxury residences. The project reflects the signature style of the late Iraqi architect and Pritzker Prize laureate, Zaha Hadid, who redefined modern architecture with this bold, dynamic design.
A Custom Façade Solution by WICONA
The building’s striking curtain wall was entirely custom-made, with its sculptural curves linking the floors while enhancing both privacy and fluidity. The façade gives the impression of waves rising from the ground and unfolding upward, infusing the building with a sense of organic motion. To achieve this vision, WICONA developed a tailored aluminium unitised façade system incorporating motorised Parallel-Outward-Vents—an advanced solution that balances aesthetic innovation with technical precision.
Luxury Living with Exceptional Amenities
Beyond its architectural statement, 520 West 28th offers a high-end living experience. The 39 residences feature long balconies and private gardens, creating a seamless indoor-outdoor connection. The building also includes a range of exclusive shared spaces, such as entertainment lounges, a private car park, an indoor swimming pool, and a spa area—enhancing comfort and lifestyle for its residents in one of Manhattan’s most prestigious neighborhoods.
